Ah, New Year’s Resolutions. Often grandiose (who says a chic Paris apartment is unrealistic?), often a holdover from the past (No more chocolate this year. Seriously. For real this time.), these goals are a great way to examine priorities and make a plan for the future. Having trouble coming up with resolutions this year? You’re in luck, because we’re here to help!

Here are some things to help you and your hardwood floor make 2015 the best year yet:

  • So Fresh, So Clean
Make sure you’re using the right cleaning techniques for your floor. Hardwoods do best when vacuumed weekly or biweekly with your brush attachment, dusted with an electrostatic cloth, or swept with an electric broom. For deeper cleaning, look for products designed specifically for hardwood, and be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions.  Never wet-mop a hardwood floor!
  • Proper Grooming Habits
Got pets? Keep your furry friend’s nails trimmed to avoid scratches.
  • Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize
Throw rugs and mats are a great way to add personality and protection! They’re especially useful near entrances and exits, where they catch dirt and debris and prevent them from getting onto the hardwood.
