If you are looking for a floor at a great value and enjoy projects that involved extra labor then this #3 Cabin Grade / Utility Grade may be right for you.  Grade #3 Common, Common 3, Utility, Cabin, Value Grade are all different names for the same grade of flooring.  It's the lowest grade of flooring after grades Select #1, Common1, #2 Common and Common2.

This particular unfinished white oak has a warm rustic cabin ambiance consisting of small, large and pocket knots with veins running through it. Matching wood filler should be used to fill these knots. (Recommended filler is Bona Pacific Filler). EXPECT THESE FLOORING BOARDS TO BE RANDOM LENGTH RANGING FROM LESS THAN 1 FOOT TO 3 FEET. Consider that there will be flaws in the flooring boards and extra labor will be necessary. Flaws on your flooring may be amended by simply filling pocket knots with wood filler and squaring off insignificant cracks on the butt joint, short splits or broken tongue and groves.

Some boards may have an x marked on them.  When boards run through the mill, they are marked with an "x"  to indicate that the boards are grade #3 common grade or value grade.  These boards do not qulaify for Select Grade or #2 Common and that is why they are sold at much lower prices.  The "x" will be sanded off when finishing the floor.  This floor has the potential to be a beautiful floor at a budget price. 

Cabin Grade / Utility Grade Common Grade that is processed to NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association) Rules that admit a limited amount of common imperfections within the flooring which requires a recommended higher rate of Waste Factor (20%-30% Waste Factor) than the standard higher grades of Red or White Oak flooring. The end result with our Oak #3 Common/Utility Grade – Cabin Grade Hardwood Flooring is SIGNIFICANT SAVINGS while providing you a beautiful end product that is full of natural color and character.
